Produce and Release an Original Track

You're going to make an original 2 to 3 minute song, design a cover picture for it (the image that goes with a song, like an album cover), and share it. The skill is choosing: making version after version and being able to say why one of them is the one and the others aren't. That's what a music producer does: deciding what a song actually needs. You'll have an original song and its cover picture out in the world for people to hear and see.
You're done when: A 2 to 3 minute song that sounds chosen rather than accidental (you picked the style and the feeling, and went well past the first try), a cover picture that matches, and a link you shared with at least one real listener, and you can say in a sentence why your pick is better than the ones you dropped. Choosing is the work: not 'the AI made me a song,' but 'I chose the one, and I can say why.'
How this shows up on a resume or college app
I composed an original track using AI tools, designed its cover art, and shared it with real listeners, choosing the one version that worked out of many and being able to say why. I learned where the AI ends and my taste begins: anyone can generate, but choosing the one is the skill.

Step 1
Chase the track already in your head
Start with the one feeling you want a listener to get: the last day of summer, walking home after winning, 2am on the highway. Name it. Then name the style it lives in, what it's about, and a couple of lines of words if someone sings on it. Write all of this down as your vibe note, a short description you'll keep and compare every version (every song you make with the AI) against, like a measuring stick for whether a version is right. Without it every version sounds kind of fine, which is exactly how people settle for the first okay one.

Make a pile of versions, then pick THE one
Make at least 5 versions (the first one is never the one), then choose the single best, and in a sentence say why it beats the second-best. Saying why, against the others, IS the skill: anyone can press the button, and 'this one, because...' is what makes it yours.

Decide how the cover picture looks
Now you decide how it looks: make cover pictures and keep going until the picture and the sound feel like the same thing. Your vibe note already said what this is about, so the cover just has to match it. Same skill as the song: make options, choose with a reason.

Share it + close
Get it heard: share the song and cover somewhere real, and read how people react. Free all the way: your song already has a public link on your Suno page that anyone can play, though the free version won't let you download it. Getting it onto SoundCloud or Spotify takes two paid steps: pay for Suno Pro to unlock the download, then pay a distributor (a company that gets your song onto Spotify for you) to release it. That's the honest paid route. Sharing your free Suno link, above, is enough for this project.
